Do I need to prepare a monologue and/or song?
No! We provide “sides” prior to the audition. All of our productions are non-musical at this time.
What are “sides” and do I need to memorize them?
Sides are short scenes from the script that we distribute a few days in advance in order to give the participants an opportunity to become familiar with the words and characters. There is no need to memorize them – just be comfortable reading them before you come in to audition.
Do you hold callbacks?
Yes! We use callbacks to have actors read together on stage who didn’t have the chance during auditions. Not all will be called back, HOWEVER that doesn’t mean you didn’t make it in the show! The final Cast List is sent out via email within 24 hours of the callback date.
Do you cast everyone?
Unfortunately, we are limited on space and cannot cast everyone who comes out to audition. Alice in Wonderland can cast 20 actors. Fairytale Festival is able to accommodate more actors in roles of all sizes.
Are conflicts with rehearsals ok?
Yes and no. We ask that you let us know as soon as possible if you have conflicts. This will help us know how to cast you in the production and how to create the rehearsal schedule. We do have some rehearsals that are mandatory, as listed in the audition information section.
Is there a fee to participate?
Yes. We charge $25 per participant to cover the cost of the scripts and licensing.
Do you provide the costume?
Yes! We provide the costumes, EXCEPT for shoes, socks, tights, etc. If we do not already have a costume for your character, you have the option of purchasing it on your own and keeping it after the production, or letting us purchase it and keeping it for future productions.
Are there any other requirements to participate?
We require each participant to donate two hours of volunteer time toward the production. This can be done at home, out in the community, during rehearsals, at our tech prep days, or during performances as a backstage helper or house helper. The actor, a family member, or a friend can contribute the hours. It takes a village!
How much are tickets?
Tickets are $20 each. Cast members receive a 15% discount for up to 10 tickets and early access to the ticketing system to ensure family and friends are able to attend.
